About US
The Story so far!
We started in a car park. Most times it was wet, but we didn't mind, we were playing hockey, scoring goals, dekeing, wrist shots. Firstly it started as a hobby, but very soon became something all the more serious. Soon we had a team, a name, a badge, a new indoor venue to practice at, and more players.
Things progressed at a fast rate, venues were exchanged for larger and better surfaces, and then on February 8th 2002, we officially joined the Irish Inline Hockey League. Talk about baptism of fire. In our first match against 2 time defending League and Playoff champions, Dublin City Riot, we were floored by 17, count 'em, unanswered goals! During the off-season, a lot of hard work was undertaken; constant drilling by our tough coach twice a week, and an in-house league has improved our standards dramatically.
Meanwhile, East Coast Blaze has continued to grow. We have nurtured our young talent, and now have a strong under 14 and under 16 talent pool from which to choose, as well as a newly founded ladies team. The junior teams currently compete in the Northern Ireland Inline Hockey League on a monthly basis, and some of the older players form the core of our second team competing this weekend.
