Sunday 20th January 2008 saw East Coast Blaze Ladies and Kilkenny Ladies teams once again facing off in a friendly game at the Valley Leisure Centre in a pre league match. The teams were both excited about once again getting the opportunity for an all female show of inline hockey (well with exception of the ECB goalie whom we borrowed for the day - Ginge from Blaze). Both teams were very well matched in ability with Kilkenny Ladies coming out strong in the 1st period with Jeanine De Volder scoring the 1st goal early on. East Coast Blaze Ladies were up against tough opposition with Kilkenny having a very strong net minder and it wasn't until the 2nd period that Tracey Hughes from ECB equalized with a great goal. The two teams battled to the end, in more ways than one, with a few flying sticks and spills on the court but the final result ended in a 1-1 draw. East Coast Blaze Ladies are currently seeking a new net minder and are looking forward to once again getting the opportunity to play in a Ladies All Ireland League which will hopefully be getting underway in the next month or two.
