In the coming year East Coast Blaze will once again play host to the 3rd
Annual Valley Vase Tournament after the last 2 years events proved to be
such a success. February past saw competitive showcases of the top six
teams in Ireland and 1 team from London, along with a junior s tournament of
4 teams and a women s exhibition match. Next year (2006) we hope to make
the event an even greater success than with 8 teams from the South of
Ireland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales competing.
Last year the competition was in conjunction with Inline Hockey Ireland
and saw East Coast Blaze, Dublin Thunder, Glanmire Rockets, Dublin Riot,
London Snipers, Bangor Chiefs and Kilkenny Bandits battle it out for the
Valley Vase trophy. In the end it was lifted by the reigning Irish League
Champions Dublin Riot for the second year running, with Swedish goaltender
Cristian Ajnesjo, and Sandro Burmann winning the awards for top goalie and
player respectively.
